Privacy Policy
Last updated: 06/27/2026
Echoes ("the app") is a private, offline journal. This policy explains what data the app processes and why. The short version: your journal entries never leave your device, and the app contains no analytics, advertising, or tracking of any kind.
1. Who is responsible
The data controller responsible for this app and website is:
Frederik Martin
Alfred-Kästner-Str. 59, 04275 Leipzig, Germany
Email: hello@tamsolabs.com
2. What data the app stores, and where
Everything you write is stored only on your device, in a local database in the app's private storage. This includes:
- Your journal entries (the text and the calendar date they belong to).
- Your app preferences (chosen typeface, light/dark theme, daily reminder time, and whether you have unlocked the full version).
There is no user account, no login, and no sign-up. The app does not transmit your entries or preferences to us or to any third party, and we have no servers that receive or store them. We cannot see your journal.
3. Network connections
The app works fully offline. It only contacts the network in one situation: when you choose to unlock the full version, the app communicates with your device's app store (Apple App Store or Google Play) to process the one-time purchase and to restore a previous purchase. We do not operate this payment flow ourselves and never receive your payment details.
4. Purchases
Echoes offers a single one-time, non-subscription purchase to unlock unlimited entries. Payments are handled entirely by Apple or Google under their own terms and privacy policies. They — not us — process your payment and may collect transaction data as described in their policies:
- Apple: apple.com/legal/privacy
- Google: policies.google.com/privacy
To confirm whether you have unlocked the app, the app stores a small flag on your device and asks the store whether a valid purchase exists. It does not share any journal content in the process.
5. Notifications
If you enable the daily reminder, the app schedules a local notification on your device at the time you choose. This is created and delivered entirely on your device by the operating system; no reminder data is sent anywhere, and you can turn it off at any time in the app's settings.
6. Exporting and importing your data
You can export your entire journal to a .csv or .json file at any time, and import such a file back in. When you export, the app creates the file on your device and hands it to your operating system's share sheet so you can save or send it wherever you choose. Once a file leaves the app this way, what happens to it is governed by the service or storage you send it to, not by us.
7. Analytics, advertising and tracking
None. The app contains no analytics SDKs, no advertising, no crash-reporting that phones home, and no third-party tracking. We do not build profiles of you and there is nothing to opt out of.
8. This website
This website (echoes-journal.app) is a static informational page. It sets no tracking cookies and runs no analytics. Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which may receive your IP address as part of serving the font files; see Google's privacy policy linked above. Your hosting provider may keep standard server logs (such as IP addresses) for security and operation, as is typical for any website.
9. Children
Echoes is not directed at children under the age required for consent in your country and does not knowingly collect data from them. As all data stays on the device and no account is created, the app does not process children's personal data on our servers.
10. Your rights
Because your journal data is stored solely on your device and we hold none of it, you remain in full control: you can view, edit, export, or permanently delete all of it at any time from within the app (Settings → Your data → Delete all entries, or by uninstalling the app).
Under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and similar laws, you have the rights to access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection regarding any personal data a controller holds about you. Since we do not hold your journal data, these rights are exercised directly on your device. For any data we do control (for example, an email you send us), you may contact us at hello@tamsolabs.com to exercise these rights, and you have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app evolves. Material changes will be reflected here with an updated date. The current version is effective as of06/27/2026.
